Common questions

How do I add the widgets?
Open Hapax once after installing (this hands the schedule to your widgets). Then: for the Home Screen, long-press an empty spot → Edit → Add Widget → Hapax. For the Lock Screen, long-press the Lock Screen → Customize → tap the area below the clock → Hapax. There are two Lock Screen styles: the full card, and "Word: Big" for maximum glanceability.

When does the word change?
At midnight, your local time, on the widget itself: no need to open the app, and it works fully offline.

What does the Difficulty setting do?
It sets which stream today's word and all future words come from (All, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert). Your past history keeps the words you actually saw: changing difficulty never rewrites it.

The pronunciation didn't play.
Tap the dotted-underlined respelling (for example, "HAY-paks") to hear the word. It uses your device's built-in voice, so check your ringer/volume: no internet needed.

I want my data deleted.
Hapax has no account and stores your history only on your device. Deleting the app removes everything: there is nothing anywhere else.
